Jay Z pulled out all the stops for his most recent show, a rally for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Well, his efforts fell short as the former Secretary of State lost the White House run to Donald Trump.
However, Hov keeps his business moving. The day after the election, it’s announced that he will serve as a headlining act at the Global Citizen Festival, which is being held in India for the first time this year, according to Billboard. Jay joins Coldplay and Demi Lovato on the main stage in Mumbai November 19 for his first show in the country. The event also features Indian celebrities including composer A.R. Rahman and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar.
“With over half a million young Indians taking over 1.8 million actions in support of our campaigns, earning their free tickets for the inaugural Global Citizen India Festival, it is exhilarating to see that the youth of India won’t wait for change,” Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans said. “We are thrilled to be launching this 15 year journey to end extreme poverty in India with the support of Coldplay, Jay Z and Demi Lovato and incredible Indian superstars like A.R. Rahman and Farhan Akhtar.”
To attend the festival, fans can get free tickets by participating in the event’s Action Journey service projects. The Global Citizen Festival will also be collecting donations for orphans in India.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin is curator of the Global Citizen Festival and has held the event in New York every year since 2012. Jay Z co-headlined the festival in 2014 with The Roots and No Doubt.
